The female beauty in a portrait taken in front of Candlelight: My Thanks Girls ’16
Once a year, for one month a year, I realized portraits absolutely free, pro bono. I love to rally girls I know or do not yet know: it is a project that I called “Thanks Girls” , and means a lot to me: is my personal way of giving back the beauty that I have received during the past year, and give something for free to another person, in the way that I do best.
For me it is a source of enrichment and joy to know women in front of me, those that reunion after a year both new ones: they open themselves in front of me in words and with their faces, giving me a little of their lives, their personalities, their fears and frailties, their courage in being photographed by a stranger.
But why candlelight?
I wanted to go back to the origins of light in portraiture, looking for the source of pictorial primary light, even when we did not have electricity. It is ancestral the binding of a flame and the reflection on our skin. He reassures us and warms us and lights our eyes that are reflected in its strength and at the same time in its precariousness. Also this year, Thanks, Girls.
